2017 Presented the American Veteran Award by American Italian Culture Center on behalf of the Louisiana American Italian Renaissance Foundation

2015 The Cefalutana Society created the President Salvatore J. Serio Scholarship Fund in his honor to be given to an incoming High School Senior at Cabrini High School.

2014 the Jefferson Parish Council presented a Proclamation for outstanding contributions to the community as President of the Societa Italiana di Mutua Beneficenza Cefalutana from 1995 until 2014.
